GCB Donates GHC30,000 Cash to The Dagbon Development Fund
The Ghana Commercial Bank has donated an amount of Thirty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC30,000) to support the Dagbon Development Fund (DDF).
This was revealed during an exclusive interview with the Public Relations Officer for Gbewa Palace, Musah Yakubu on the Sankara Breakfast Show (SBS) hosted by Mohammed Suhuyini Shaharan in Yendi.
The PRO further disclosed that Members of Parliament from the Dagbon Kingdom pledged to donate GHC100,000 whiles Chairman for the Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation (GIISDEC), Alhaji Farouck Aliu Mahama and the Board pledging to support the Fund with GHC50,000.
The Dakpem Gub’gbaai Naa, founder of McDan Group of Companies, Dr. Daniel McKorley who handed over a 1.2 million cedis school facility to the King of Dagbon, Ya-Na Abukari II also pledged to support the Dagbon Development Fund with a sum of GHC200,000.
Set up by the Dagbon Traditional Council, the Fund is aimed at strengthening the economic and social cohesion in Dagbon by correcting intra-Dagbon imbalances (imbalances between its communities) and imbalances between Dagbon and the rest of the country.
The DDF also aims to partner with government, Northern Development Authority, other development partners and the private sector to develop frame work with the objective to rebrand and repackage the Dagbon Chieftaincy institution to become a major vehicle for development.
Among other things, the focus of the DDF in the context of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is to help to eliminate poverty, erase hunger, establish good health and well-being, provide quality education, create decent work and economic growth etc.
