The Flagbearer of the National Democratic Party (NDC), John Dramani Mahama says he will ensure the next NDC government transforms the Yendi Hospital into a major Municipal referral Hospital within the Eastern Corridor when the party wins the 2024 general elections.

“Ndan Yaa-Naa, we had a plan to upgrade the Yendi Hospital into a major Municipal referral Hospital. It was in our manifesto in 2016, it was in our manifesto in 2020 and I can assure you it’s going to be in our manifesto again in 2024. Yendi Hospital will be the major referral Hospital in this whole Eastern Corridor, so that all the smaller hospitals if they have cases they cannot manage, they will bring them here to Yendi instead of going all the way to Tamale.”

The former President, John Dramani Mahama, gave the assurance when he paid a courtesy call on the King of Dagbon, Yaa-Naa Abukari II at the Gbewaa palace in the Yendi constituency where he kicked off his Building Ghana Tour in the Northern Region.

In his welcome address read on his behalf by Zangbalin-lana, Dr. Jacob Yakubu Mahama,  Ndan Yaa-Naa Abukari II expressed confidence that the opposition leader will carry the hopes and aspirations of the Dagbon people as he seeks to lead the nation towards a brighter future for all in peaceful coexistence.

The King further admonished the NDC flagbearer to maintain a clean campaign devoid of insults and name calling between him and the flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia just as he did when the Vice President paid a courtesy call on him somewhere last year.

“I want to congratulate you and His Excellency Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of Ghana for a clean campaign so far. He was in this Palace last year and I admonished him to lead a clean campaign with you devoid of name-calling and bitterness. He listened to me and today Iam giving you the same advice. You have no brother out there besides him.”

During the two-day tour, the opposition NDC leader is also expected to visit the Mion and Gushegu constituencies to interact with party supporters and sympathizers where he will be holding town hall meetings for their inputs in the party’s 2024 manifesto.

Day two of the tour includes activities in the four constituencies within Tamale Township (Tamale Central, Tamale North, Tamale South, and Sagnarigu constituencies).

This transformative journey aims to connect with supporters, instill hope, and re-energize the party at the grassroot level to enable the party to emerge victorious in the 2024 general elections.

The Building Ghana Tour is part of the campaign process of the National Democratic Congress in the build up towards the December, 2024 geneal elctions.
