Buduburam: Criminals will be easily identified after demolition – Security Expert
A Security Expert, Mr Adams Bonaa says the demolition of the Buduburam Refugee Camp will help identify criminals and as well reduce criminal activities in the country.
The demolition of portions of the Buduburam Refugee Camp in the Central Region was expected to commence on Thursday, September 30, 2021.
According to authorities, criminal activities were on the rise at the Buduburam Refugee Camp hence the decision.
Despite giving long notice to residents to vacate the camp, most of them refused to relocate, with some claiming they were just given peanuts to look for a place to rent.

Speaking on Atinka TV’s morning show, Ghana Nie with Ekourba Gyasi Simpremu, Mr Adams Bonaa noted that Kasoa had been tagged a Banana Community where people do things their own way, cautioning that if care is not taken, Kasoa will consume the whole country.
The Security Expert noted that since Kasoa became the 18th Police Region, criminal activities including killing, armed robbery had reduced.
However, he said the spread of crime has become uniform in the country because most of the criminals had moved into different places of the country.
Mr Adams Bonaa who noticed that most of the criminals, including those from Togo, Nigeria and Liberia were hiding at Kasoa, especially the camp was of the belief that now, the criminals will be exposed at other places because they have moved.
“When you work with the police, they will tell you that they were looking for a particular person and he or she was hiding in Kasoa and you will go there and you will not find them. They were hiding in this camp. Since they elevated the place, some of them move out and so it has become easy to apprehend them and some of them have actually been killed in the last one month. A lot of armed robbers who attempted exchanging fires with the police have been killed,” he said.
He added that,”It will be easy for them to be identified. If you live in some of these decent communities and a criminal comes there, you will expose him.”
Mr Adams Bonaa said the Buduburam camp should have come down five years ago because it was not fit for purpose.
He added that,”let us bring it down to make it easy for all of us to go to that area for recreation, go to that area to visit family. As at now if someone asks me to visit him at that area, it is so difficult to do because you do not know how you are going to do that.”
The Security Expert said after demolishing the camp, the security threats is going to go up but eventually will come down to a level that will be considerably better for the people.
