Former President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has received the covid-19 vaccine.
John Dramani Mahama received the AstraZeneca vaccine today 2nd March 2021 at the Police Hospital in Accra. The First lady, Lordina Mahama also took the vaccine.
The government of Ghana received the first batch of the covid-19 vaccine, AstraZeneca vaccine, on Wednesday 24th February 2021.
The AstraZeneca vaccine is one of two (2) vaccines that have, so far, been approved and declared as safe-for-use by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).
Speaking to Ghanaians during the 24th Covid-19 update address, President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, urged Ghanais to avail themselves to take the covid-19 vaccine.
“The AstraZeneca vaccine is one of two (2) vaccines that have, so far, been approved and declared as safe-for-use by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA). With the process of certification currently ongoing for the other vaccines, the range of vaccines available to us will increase. This will facilitate our ability to reach our target of vaccinating twenty million Ghanaians by the end of this year”, the President said.
Speaking to the media after taking his COVID-19 vaccine jab at the Ghana Police Hospital, the former President John Dramani Mahama encouraged all eligible adults to take the vaccine adding that vaccines, drugs among others have contributed to the control of diseases over the years.
President Akufo-Addo and his vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as well as their spouses took turns yesterday, 1st March 2021, to take the covid-19 vaccine on live TV.
