Kumasi: Kejetia market to close 7pm effective June 1

The Kejetia Market will be closed to the general public 7pm each day effective 1st June 2021.

The Managing Director for Kumasi City Markets Limited, Managers of the Kejetia Market, Director, Mr Kofi Dufour Addai cited cost of operation, security and safety of traders as reasons for the latest development.

The ultra-modern Kejetia market, which was inaugurated in 2018, consists of over 8,420 stores, a clinic, a police station, a social and recreational centre and an ICT centre.

The facility also houses a post office, a fire post, banks and a crèche.

The Managing Director for Kumasi City Markets Limited, Mr Kofi Dufour Addai, explained that from 7pm effective 1st June 2021, no trading activities will be allowed to go on after the said time when the directive is fully implemented.

Mr. Duffour used the opportunity to caution traders and the general public to comply with the new directive when it is implemented.

He reiterated that managers of the facility will not condone any form of indiscipline from the traders as well as users of the facility.

“The decision has been communicated to the traders to inform them of the impending changes and I must reiterate that no trading activities will go on after the said time when the directive are implemented”, Mr. Duffour added.
