At least 340 suspected criminals have been picked up in a swoop carried out by the police in parts of Kasoa in the Central Region.
The suspects were mostly Nigerians including five females, according to a Graphic online report. Police have confirmed nine of the suspects were possessing substances believed to be India hemp.
Other items retrieved from the suspects include 245 laptops, 142 mobile phones, and six Nigerian passports.
Central Regional Police Commander Commander DCOP Habiba Twumasi-Sarpong who briefed the media said they have begun screening and profiling the suspects. She said those found culpable will be processed for court.
Kasoa has over the past few weeks recorded a number of crimes including the killing of a 10-year-old boy by two teenagers for ritual.
Police in the area have since assured of their resolve to clamp down on the activities of criminals in the area.
